Billingham angling club (“the Club”) is committed to protecting the privacy of its members and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

1. Who we are

Billingham angling club is a not-for-profit angling club

We may collect and hold the following information about members:

  • Telephone number

  • Membership number and status

  • Subscription and payment records

  • Participation in club activities or competitions (where relevant)

We do not knowingly collect data about children without parental consent.

3. Why we collect your data (lawful basis)

We use members’ personal data for:

  • Managing membership and subscriptions

  • Communicating club information (e.g. meetings, events, fishing notices)

  • Maintaining financial and legal records

  • Running the club in accordance with its constitution

Our lawful bases are contract (membership) and legitimate interests (running the club).

We will only use consent where required (e.g. optional marketing communications).

  • Data is stored securely (password-protected files / locked storage)

  • Access is limited to authorised committee members

  • We do not sell or misuse member data

Members’ contact details are not shared with other members without permission.

6. How long we keep your data

  • Active members: for the duration of membership

  • Former members: only as long as necessary for legal, accounting, or insurance purposes

Data that is no longer required is securely deleted.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data

  • Correct inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your data

  • Restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances
